Protect Your Envelopes!

Did you know that a big contributing factor of the quality, performance, and characteristics of your envelopes is based on how they’re stored? Improper storage of your envelopes can cause them to get warped, curled, stuck together, and other damage. To ensure that you protect your envelopes, here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Humidity: This is one of the most common causes of curling and warping of envelopes. As paper becomes saturated, the grain causes it to curl. This leads to feeding and printing problems down the road. Storing your envelopes in an area between 30-50% humidity will keep them top-notch.
  2. Temperature: The temperature of the area your envelopes are being stored is important, and severe changes in temperature can damage your envelopes as well. It is safe to keep them between 65° -75°F.
  3. Stacking: Unsafe and improper stacking can cause damages to envelopes such as creases, tears, or completely crushed boxes. It is not recommended to stack them more than a few cases high. Do not stack envelope boxes directly on the floor, overlap cartons off the edge of the pallets, or store them close to exterior walls.

Keeping these suggestions in mind will ensure that you get the best results form your paper products, even after long periods of time in your storage room!
